GS Juniors will take on the following 3 challenges during the Virtual Think Like an Engineer Journey Workshop:
- Create an Emergency Shelter for Pets Challenge
- Design/Build an Eiffel Paper Tower Challenge
- Construct Earthquake-Safe Hotel Challenge
At the workshop, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to understand real-world issues, create design builds around the topics, and will have the opportunity to show off their go-getter ingenuity to their fellow Girl Scouts. Girls are encouraged to wear their sash/vest.
With participation in all three Journey challenges girls complete the entire Journey except for the Take Action Project which must come from the girls' vision and be implemented in their community per GS requirements. The Take Action Project will need to be completed as a Girl Scout troop or as an individual.
Once registered, we will send you a Materials List which the Girl Scout can have a scavenger hunt with around the house. Many of the items are things you might have already in the house.
If you want to order a materials kit for $6 (for all 3 challenges), please email us at SanDiegoCoastal@challenge-island.com for materials pickup Materials kits are only available in the San Diego area.
A Certificate of Completion & exclusive Challenge Island patch will be mailed directly to the Girl Scout upon completion of all 3 challenges. This does not include the Journey Award.
