GS Juniors will take on the following challenges during the Virtual Playing the Past Badge Workshop:
- Go back in time to the 70's, imagine how it's like to live in that era and "walk in the shoes" of their dreamed up character.
- Make groovy doll-sized fashions
- Build a working pinball machine
- Make a lava lamp
In this workshop, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to understand real-world
issues, create design builds around the topics, and will have the opportunity to
show off their go-getter ingenuity to their fellow Girl Scouts. Girls are
encouraged to wear their sash/vest.
Once registered, we will send you a Materials List from which the Girl Scout can have a scavenger hunt with around the house. Many of the items are things you might have already in the house. You can gather an item OR substitute something else. If you want to order a materials kit for $7 (for all 3 build challenges), please email us at CISanDiego@challenge-island.com and we'll arrange a materials pickup date. Materials kits are only available in the San Diego area.
We will also send you a link to join Home Island, Challenge Island's
virtual classroom. If there are siblings that are in the same GS level in your household, the 2nd child gets a 50% discount.
A Certificate of
Completion & exclusive Challenge Island patch will be mailed directly to
the Girl Scout upon completion of all 4 challenges. This does not include the
Badge.
