Challenge Island® partners with Girl Scout councils nationwide. And we
are now offering hands-on STEAM Girl Scout virtual workshops for girls
of all ages - Daisy through Ambassador. But girls take note: These are
not sit-watch-a-video-and-do-the-activity-on-your-own types of classes!
These workshops are fully interactive with the teacher and the other
kids on the call and completely hands-on, just as our in-person classes
are. Join us on our interactive online workshops and connect with your
troop members and new Girl Scout friends. We have put together a
special workshop just for you!

Juniors will earn Energy, Investigate and Innovate Awards after completion of all the Journey requirements. During the GS Junior GET MOVING! Journey workshop
Juniors will:
·
Understand what energy
is
·
Carry out an energy
audit on the room they are in to explore how energy is used/wasted and how it
can be conserved
·
Suggest ways to minimize
waste and use alternative energy sources
·
Showcase their ideas
in their room replica
·
Understand the
challenges faced by communities without electricity, provide a solution and make
a model of one of the solutions
·
Write a pledge to save
energy and share/present their pledge
In this workshop, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to understand real-world
issues, create design builds around the topics, and will have the opportunity to
show off their go-getter ingenuity to their fellow Girl Scouts. Girls are
encouraged to wear their sash/vest.
With participation in
all activities and challenges, girls complete the entire Journey except
for the Take Action Project which must come from the girls' vision and be
implemented in their community per GS requirements. The Take Action
Project will need to be completed as a Girl Scout troop or as an individual.
Once we receive your registration, we will send you a Materials List from which your Girl Scout can have
a scavenger hunt with around the house.
Many of the items are things you might have already in the house.
You can gather an item OR substitute something else. If you paid for materials
fee, we'll email you with the materials pickup date and address. Materials kits
are only available in the San Diego area.
We will also send you a link to join Home Island, Challenge
Island's virtual classroom. Zoom link and materials list will be emailed to you at
least 5 days before the workshop date.
If you have more than one Girl Scout in this level in your
household, the 2nd girl gets a 50% discount.
A Certificate of Completion & exclusive Challenge Island
patch will be mailed directly to the Girl Scout upon completion of all
challenges. This does not include the Badge. Please be sure to take photos of
your Girl Scout's builds to share with their Troop Leader. It'll show them what
they've made to earn their badge.
