Experience the magic of Challenge Island
STEAM adventures from the safety of home during school closings, quarantines
and beyond. All you need is a few basic household supplies and a computer to
log into Home Island, Challenge Island’s virtual classroom.
In celebration of Challenge Island San Diego Central/North's 4th year of being a Girl Scouts San Diego Community Partner, we invite you to join us for an evening of pure STEMtastic fun!
In this GS Parent-Daughter STEAM virtual workshop, you will tackle
the Slowler Coaster challenge as a united tribe - collaborating, problem
solving, engineering and imagining as you follow the steps of the engineering
design process to meet the challenge requirements. It may sound silly, but your
challenge is to design a roller coaster for a marble that moves VERY slowly on
a track. The longer your marble takes
to get through the roller coaster the more successful your tribe will be. Do
you think your Slowler Coaster will beat all others’ in the quest to be the
slowest roller coaster ride? We’ll find out!
This GS Parent-Daughter STEAM Sunday workshop is taken from Amusement Park Island - Slowler
Coaster Ride.
Once we receive your registration, we will
email you a Materials List from which you
and your Girl Scout can have a scavenger hunt with
around the house. You can gather an item OR substitute something else.
