Get ready for some groovy time-traveling fun! You and your tribe will build a time machine and take a STEAMtastic journey to a different decade every day. You will engineer iconic toys and pop culture products from each era and experience what it was like to be a kid in the 50’s 60’s, 70’s and 80’s This Retro-riffic camp is sure to be one for the history books! The course is taught in person by STEAM professionals based here in Michigan, who encourage and celebrate the students’ accomplishments. We keep course enrollment small, to allow for plenty of interaction between the instructors and the students, and between the students themselves (in line with all COVID safety guidelines).
Challenge Island is an award-winning STEAM enrichment program where kids work together in tribes to solve fun, hands-on “challenges” which teach them about STEAM fundamentals, crosscurricular topics, plus important success skills like creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and much more. Each of our summer camps are packed with activities and learning, and include lots of positive reinforcement and social interaction in a safe setting. In addition, for students who sign up for both a morning and afternoon camp, they are welcome to bring a sack lunch and hang out with our STEAM-professional instructors for the lunch hour at no extra cost, where we’ll provide some additional activities, or some well-earned downtime as needed.
