Challenge Island and Girl Scouts
Challenge Island® partners with Girl Scout councils nationwide, and we also offer fully interactive, hands-on STEAM Girl Scout virtual workshops for girls of all ages - Daisy through Ambassador! This workshop is taught by a certified Challenge Island Owner who is also a Lifetime Girl Scout and a former Girl Scout Council Director.
But girls be warned: These are not sit-watch-a-video and do the activity on your own types of classes! These classes are fully interactive with the teacher and the other kids on the call and completely hands-on, just as our in-person classes are.
So come join us on our interactive online classes and connect with your troop members and new Girl Scout friends. We have put together a special workshop just for you!

Cadette Comic Artist Badge Workshop
WEDNESDAY, May 18
6:00-8:00 PM Eastern
You do NOT need to be a great artist to have fun in this workshop! Art is in the eye of the beholder and many different types of art speak to different people. Girls will learn about different comic and graphic novel artists' work and look at different ways grahic artists tell a story. They will be able to try their hand at creating characters with templates and create both one-dimensional and three-dimensional characters. Then they will use their knowledge and the Engineering Design Process to create, design, & engineer a STEAM build of their story plot & characters to see how it all plays out. Then transfer this story to paper.
Girls are encouraged to wear their sash/vest.
Once registered, we will send you a Materials List which the Girl Scout can have a scavenger hunt with around the house. Many to all of the items are things you have in the house or can find at a dollar store or Walmart.
Cost includes: A 2-hour workshop with multiple design build challenges, a materials lists scavenger hunt, additional printouts as needed, AND a Certificate of Completion & exclusive Challenge Island patch mailed directly to the Girl Scout. This does not include the badge.
OTHER OPTIONS: IF these dates/times don't work your schedule(s) - - CHECK OUT OUR SOCIAL BUBBLES!! YOU choose the Date(s)/Times, either in-person location OR Virtual, program/badges to earn, AND who get to attend (neighborhood friends, family, GS troop, Girl Scouts in the neighborhood, co-workers kids). You're free to choose it all! Social Bubbles are in-person with Renee Allen. If in-person, all Covid safety protocols set forth by the CDC, State, and Challenge Island will be followed.
