Family STEAM Saturdays

Pizzeria Global Kitchen 🍕   

Bring your family in to have a "delicious" time together!  Your family is your own STEAM Team to build and create.  It doesn't matter if your family is big or small...  we will all revel in the glorious creation of pizza.  In fact, your family is going to open a pizzeria.  We will quickly learn what's in a name, & logos, & tag lines, and how a good theme can bring in the diners.  Your family will incorporate all those, build a menu, and whip up some of the pizza entrees on your menu.  If you have additional time or additional people on your team, you could also create a pizzeria-themed game which people can play while waiting to be seated in your busy restaurant. (If your family does not have time to create the game, you can take it home to create).  It will be a creative, silly time to be savored with your family.  Come on in!  

In our unplugged programs, kids experience all aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) AND have opportunity to develop their Life Skills in Communication, Collaboration, Critical & Creative Thinking, Flexibility, Sociability, Initiative, Leadership, and Perseverance Through Difficulty.  At Challenge Island, we are dedicated to ensuring a brighter future for our kids and our communities by helping you prepare your child to succeed in the 21st century. 

* This event is open for families to participate together.  This is not a drop off event. *

Event includes: 2 hours of STEAM programs, take-aways, and free admission to The Curiosity Place for the remainder of the day.  

Event open to families of any kind ~ parents/kids, grandparents/grandkids, nanny/kids ....whatever family is to you.   

Date: December 13, 2025

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm 

The event and instructions will start at 10:05 am.  Your family can stay as short or long as you want up until 12 pm.   

Location: The Curiosity Place (powered by the Great Lakes Children's Museum) located in the Grand Traverse Mall. 

Registration Deadline:  12 Noon the day before the event date OR when the event fills.  

Pre-Registration is Required because there is limited capacity. 

PLEASE NOTE:

~ If the event fills to capacity before the registration deadline, registration will close. 

~ If the waitlist option is available, we highly suggest adding your child to the list, if someone cancels, a spot opens up, or if the list is small we may be able to add waitlisted families. We would let you know the day before the event date.  

~ Registration IS required.  Register ahead of time to ensure your family has a spot. 

~ Day of event registration is an option: only IF the event IS running and IS not full.   

~  If there is no one registered for the event by the registration deadline (of 12 Noon the day before), the event is cancelled and there is no option to register the same day.

Fee: $20 per family

1) Register one child between K-5th and make payment, 2) in the 'Special Instructions' field, please note how many in your family will be attending.  This will help us with having enough materials.  Thank you.
