Challenge Island® partners with Girl Scout councils nationwide, and we are now offering hands-on STEAM Girl Scout virtual workshops for girls of all ages - Daisy through Ambassador.
But girls be warned: These are not sit-watch-a-video and do the activity on your own types of classes! These classes are fully interactive with the teacher and the other kids on the call and completely hands-on, just as our in-person classes are. Join us on our interactive online classes and connect with your troop members and new Girl Scout friends. We have put together a special workshop just for you!
· * Our whimsical, creativity-based STEM/STEAM curriculum inspires girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
· * The Scientific Method is used by girls throughout each challenge as our cross-curricular island themes extends their learning across multiple disciplines.
· * Both left & right sides of the brain are utilized as innovative, creative thinking is encouraged and celebrated.
· * Challenges emphasize valuable skills such as communication, critical & creative thinking, flexibility, leadership, initiative, social skills & grit.
· * Our workshops prepare the fun, lively G.I.R.L. of today for the ever-changing global marketplace of the future.

Cadette / Senior / Ambassador Business Badges Workshop
Cadette Entrepreneur Badge: In small groups, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to create, design, & build an African Safari Park tourist business; creating a business plan, Logo & Tagline, developing expenses & revenue, and identifying who are their customers. They will then develop and give a presentation pitch to an “Investor Board” and asking for seed money to “fund” their business to get it started. Our own personal Shark Tank experience!
Senior Social Innovator Badge: In small groups, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to choose one social issue that the African Safari Park tourist business could help or solve. Around their social issue, they will deduct where technology impacts it, what other cultures can teach us around it, and identify what the obstacles are for people dealing with it every day. They will create a business plan, fully identify their social innovation concept, create a prototype to “sell” their concept and give a presentation pitch to the Cadette businesses to persuade them to adopt their social issue into their business plan and thusly change the world.
Ambassador Research & Development: In small groups, girls will use the Engineering Design Process to analyze the African Safari Park tourist business from a 1-point revenue. They will brainstorm & identify other revenue streams and research how tourist businesses R & D new services & products. Taking what they have learned, they will interview the “investor board” to identify which services & products they personally most value and why. They will develop a prototypes to represent their revenue streams and give a presentation pitch to the Cadette tourist businesses to inform them about their R & D, why they need multi-point revenue streams, and their top 3 new ways to bring in additional revenue. Their goal is to persuade some of the Cadette businesses to adopt their new revenue stream ideas into their business plan.
Girls are encouraged to wear their sash/vest.
Cost includes: A 2-hour workshop with design build challenges, materials lists scavenger hunt, additional business building printouts, AND a Certificate of Completion & exclusive Challenge Island patch mailed directly to the Girl Scout. This does not include the badges.
