Cool Career Island - Clarkston (register for individual classes - 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11)

Class Description:  These classes are designed for students from K-5th grades, and are an enrichment opportunity for kids to grow their skills and knowledge in critical thinking, teamwork and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) fundamentals in each class!  In each of these sessions, kids will get a taste of some of the world’s most exciting jobs, and work with teammates to solve STEAM challenges that they may encounter someday in that career!  See below for the specific concepts that will be covered each week:

·       Week 1 (10/30):  Dentist:  create toothpaste & board games

·       Week 2 (11/6):  Pro basketball player:  create catapults & projectiles

·       Week 3 (11/13):  Marine biologist:  design plankton with neutral buoyancy

·       Week 4 (11/20):  Veterinarian:  build wheelchairs

·       Week 5 (12/4):  Mechanical engineer:  create orange sorting machines

·       Week 6 (12/11):  Astronaut:  build Apollo lunar landers

It is encouraged for kids to join us for all 6 sessions, so that they can build on skills from week to week, but if your schedule only allows you to attend some sessions, that’s OK, too!  Please use this link to sign up directly on Clarkston Community Education's website for specific classes.
