STI's Roller Coaster Ridge

In this Summer Reading Program challenge, kids will collaborate with their tribemates (teammates) to create a roller coaster ride using foam tracks and marbles. They'll incorporate the fun elements of a roller coaster ride:  hill, curve, loop. In the process, they'll observe potential and kinetic energy as they relate to the marble rolling down the tracks. They will use their mathematical skills to find the length of their coaster ride and calculate the velocity of the marble. They will observe the impact of height and steepness to velocity and compare it before and after they changed the height of their coaster's hill.
