K-5 Kid's Event / Northern Michigan Busy Bee Hives
13240 S W Bayshore Drive
Traverse City, Michigan 49684
May 16 – Northern Michigan Busy Bee Hives
We need bees and bees need us to help them survive! Come join us as we explore honeybees, beehives, the design and construction of honeycombs, and learn the difference between a hexagon and a hexagonal prism. We will use the Engineering Design Process to construct a physical beehive prototype and to make model bees fly using the power of elasticity! We are going to be designing and flying like crazy!
At Challenge Island we work in collaborative groups using positive communication and social skills to interact effectively with others throughout the process. Students will be placed in groups by grade or with those in grades one above or below.
Open to kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Parents should remain at the Great Lakes Children’s Museum, but not in the activity room due to the tight space.
